BIOL 1108 AB — Principles of Biology II

Lecture part of a sequence designed for science majors. An introduction to evolution and its role in generating biodiversity. Students will explore how the abiotic environment and interactions among organisms contribute to adaptive evolution through natural selection. Topics include mechanisms of evolution; phylogenetic relationships; the structure, function, and ecological roles of prokaryotes, protists, plants, fungi, and animals; and the broader importance of biodiversity.Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of "C" in BIOL 1107 and BIOL 1107L; and prior or concurrent enrollment in BIOL 1108L.
