2D Art and Design Foundations

This course addresses formal design language and strategies used to make informed decisions regarding the intentions of visual communication on a two-dimensional surface. Students develop perceptual ability using the enduring knowledge of design and exposure to a variety of contemporary and historical theories and perspectives. Projects explore the functions and properties of the formal elements and their organizing principles through the use of relational systems and color theory in a wide variety of media.
